When is enough enough?
With any addiction I strongly believe that it is important to hit rock bottom before any effective change can be made; knowing that you've finally reached that places where there is only ONE way out is often the start of changing a hugely destructive habit. My 'rock bottom' moment was whilst on a day out to the seaside in 2009 and I sank a Pedalo at the sheer size and mass of my own ass, a fact that I found hysterically funny at the time but since have cringed and yes even cried about.
Fact is! I believe that losing the pounds is a case of doing much more than simply eating less calories and exercising more it also has a lot to do with having the time, sufficient planning skills and above all its essential you have the right state of mind and support.
Support~
Personally, I believe that surrounding yourself with like minded people who share the same desire for healthy living and low calorie foods is essential to anyone loosing weight; couples that loose weight TOGETHER are more likely to achieve their goals and succeed in their mission to fight the flab. Without total faith and support from your loved ones you really are fighting a losing battle, you begin to think that failure IS an option because people expected it anyway.
Right frame of mind~
Psychologists believe that for a person who has been obese their entire life there is almost always a guaranteed trigger to why the began to eat all those years ago so trying to identify this could prepare you mentally for losing weight. I often think about MY reason and MY situation and have concluded that due to being from a single-parent family after my 'Father' left us at an early age Mum had to work three jobs to make ends meet and therefore we ate whatever convenience food she provided that day. Chopping up fresh fruit and vegetables (until we were a little more grown up ans more financially secure) was alien to us. Also, you've got to really want to do it . If your an emotional eater like me then ensuring that all those negative occurrences that normally drive you to eat stay well away is paramount. Finally, telling yourself that you ARE worth all the time and effort it takes to lose weight is the greatest tip could ever give anybody.
Well all I know is that I HAVE had enough and that tomorrow with my Partner Andrew we are going to fight this fantastic fight together and shed those annoying pounds that have controlled our lives for far too long.
Enough is enough...... Wish us luck
XOXOXOXOX

Think twice about that naughty vice...
![]() |
| Let me introduce you to my enemy.... 'The Vice' |
Some people pride themselves on work and would consider their 70hour working week to be a huge vice. Others may have more addictive vises such as a glass of wine or smoking cigarettes. However, there is no competition when it comes to the most popular vice, yes you've guessed it..... food!
The most popular food vices appear to follow the all too familiar ABC sequence. A; alcohol, (but never a healthy apples I see). B; biscuits, bread. And finally C; cake, crisps, cookies and my all time favourite ....Chocolate. After asking people on Twitter & Facebook unsurprisingly I discovered that most of these guilty pleasure were a result of a hard day at work or general comfort eating; it begs the question 'If we were all 100%completely and contently happy with our own lives would anyone ever even be fat or overweight?' and my next question 'Does that person even exist?'
For as long as I can remember I've had a love/hate relationship with chocolate (I love IT but it HATES my wobbly belly and my ever expending ass). I often ask myself, why when we know of certain risks in life (Eg bad friends, distructive relationships or indeed an ongoing chocolate addiction) do we still put ourselves in vulnerable positions therefore free to threat or attack. I KNOW my vice and I KNOW what I need to do but still losing weight seems like a huge struggle.
As expected every vice comes with a price; obviously there's the weigh gain but above all there's the overwhelming guilt of having failed yourself all over again. Over the years Iv quickly realised that if you hide food, hide your face whilst eating or generally try to conceal any eating behaviour you probably know in your heart that your acting irresponsibly and you really shouldn't be eating whatever it is you're troffing. Yesterday, I found myself in this same situation.... it was 9pm at night after a 'long hard day at work' (The Universal excuse for failure!) and even though Id had three main meals with countless naughty snacks in between I took it upon myself to buy 2 Chicken wraps and a Kit-kat Chunky bar. As I started to tuck into my 4th meal of the day I realised I was avoiding eye contact of other commuters standing at the Tram platform, hiding my face, looking down at the ground and generally doing everything I could to avoid the shame and judgement from strangers Id never even met before. Jessie J's song sounded over my pastel pink vintage headphones (seriously I wouldn't make this poetic shit up) she began to sing 'I stare at my reflection in the mirror! Why am I doing this to myself?'. Why indeed Jessie! Why is it that I'm a strong independent woman who's biggest enemy is a Southern fried Chicken wrap!? The shame caused me to have flashback of being that 20.5stone 20year old who at perhaps her lowest point sunk a small seaside boat & ate recycled cold pizza.... when I say recycled I mean it was from the kitchen BIN!
Since my recycling days I have been on endless amounts of diets and many of you may know that even with losses and again I now find myself at around 17stone; still much bigger than I'd like but a far far cry from the me that once was. Recently I calculated how many years of my life I'd actually been on some sort of diet plan and the fact is I could remember being on a diet as young as 11; thinking as an eleven year old that was humongous when in fact id kill to be that size now.
Does anyone have any advice to solve my vice?

Bye bye belly, ta-ta tum....
I'm actually the happiest with my body than iv ever been; body confident, aware of my best assets and willing to show them off. I no longer walk round seeking praise or acceptance from complete strangers whose opinions will never matter. Instead, now I reply on my own judgement and impressing no one other than myself.
The only thing that could possibly make me happier would be a few inches loss from my waisteline; for years Iv been happy with the size of everything (arms, legs, chin, ankles) BUT my out of proportion tummy. Recently Iv decided to take action and now I find mysekf on a mission to hslf the size of my tum-tum. Certain foods like brocolli, cabbage, eggs and cottage cheese has been proven to aid weighg loss from the waist line so thats exactky what I am going to eat for a few months on a trial basis. Iv aldo decided to give up the carbs for the time being which is certainly going to be my biggest challenge to date as my favourite foods include sausage rolls, bread, crumpets all of which are stodgy carbohydrates. At the moment my waiste stands at 60 invhes which is a tremendous amount considerung my shirt 5ft3ins frame.
I plan to keep you posted.
Peace out xoxo

Eating my feelings.....
Its no secret that a lot of people eat their feelings, sad fact is certain people go as far to eat other peoples feelings too ha. I have always ate my feelings ever since I could remember; happy feelings, sad feelings and any feeling in between. I always have and always will be in a passionate 'its complicated' relationship with food. Every special occasion in my life to date without a doubt includes a celebratory meal of some sort. My first date with andrew... Chinese, my Graduation... Chinese, failed relationships... Chinese and so on until I reached 20.5stone in 2009
Visiting family back home in Mansfield. Nottinghamshire I suddenly found myself wanting to stuff myself simply for the sake of it and reintroduce myself to all those old stodgy favourites like chips & beans, mayo sandwiches (yes! It really is no wonder I was over 20stone) etc . It was almost like my body recognised a familiar environment and assumed it should have been gorging till I felt physically sick like old times. Its amazing how much power my family home still has over my subconscious because whenever I visit I suddenly revert back to that 15 year old girl with little control over anything in my life; family, food, and boys!
If I'm completely honest the experience really confused me; my old unhealthy eating habits totally conflicted with my new 'more water, less food' philosophy. Thank goodness I managed to no over indulge no thanks to my Mums Birthday buffet.
My new life in Sheffield is much healthier as a whole; emotionally & physically I am a much calmer happier (and not to mention healthier ) woman. I do not have to face the scrutiny from others who liked to criticise my weight loss efforts whenever their own efforts has gone astray, for once I'm going at it alone and for once its working (slowly but still effective). I am now totally accountable for my own success in this task and no one else can influence my progress so long as I stay focused and realise I'm a 24year old woman who for once is doing something for herself!
I am not moaning but instead I simply find myself in a reflective mood whenever I visit my past.
For now its back to the future.... Sunny Sheffield that is.

Part-time dieter

| Feeling the love for my girlies.... |
Nothing like a girly giggle or a Hen Weekend away to put your life into perspective; for too long I have netered into things half heartedly. In fact the only thing I give my full effort are my relationships with those I love (some things deserve my full attenton). Firstly, theres our desire to save for a house deposity so we can buy our first home together; we have made a good start but still things could be better, until now Iv not really sacrificed anything to free up extra cash for the savings. Secondly, theres my ongoing battle with the bulge; since 2011 I have 'tried' to move from the all too familiar 16-17stone mark as I continue to bob along between those two very annoying numbers. I suddenly find myself wondering what the point is in half hearted dieting when I only ever get a half hearted result (this in turn then leaves me feeling annoyed and subsequently I put the few pounds Iv lost back on in weeks). I want MAJOR results from now until Christmas....I WILL be in the 14-15stone club by the end of 2013 even if it means doing something drastic (no surgery or medications allowed however) even if it means cutting out Chocolare at some point.
The Summer is truely upon us after I have just returned from a girly Hen Weekend in Newcastle; lots of food, lots of alcohol but LOTS of giggles to compliment. Theres nothing like being with a group of woman for an entire weekend to shock you into new eating habits :-) Im convincing myself that its all about eating mor eveggies, drinking more water and simplyu laying off the carbs, now this I CAN do! It would be very interesting to see if even making the smallest changes for the next few months would have a drastic difference. I long for the day when I see someone I havent spoken to in months and they say 'WOW! Your looking great.... how much weight have you lost now!?'... Yes it was a huge change when i dropped from 20.5stone to 16stone but now thats OLD news, I want to start writing the newest chapter of my life. My weight has always been something I was never really good at; at school I aimed high and achieved lots, in my career I like to think Im doing the same but my weight has always been the BIGGEST (no pun intended) challenge to date.
I feel healthier when I have a tan and when i feel healthier I tend to eat healthier and behave in a better more healthier way. So, tomorrow I make the family visit to Nottinghamshire I intend on visiting my faithful tanning salon and getting that much needed Summer glow. I really do feel fro ny woman wanting to shed a few pound because it is one of the hardest things I think ill ever do; yes there will be good days but with that also comes the bad (we're only human, never forget that we all make mistakes).
Good luck everyone, whether its a few stone or a few pounds your hoping to lose we will all face the same challenges and temptations..... Only now do I realise that if I want results I need to put in the effort

| Attemoting to keep things tasty in the Kitchen. |
On a brighter note (no pun intended) The Sun is finally here and thank goodness for that! Shit! Its suddenly dawned on me that the extended Winter has meant that the hybernation eating stage perhaps went on for a little longer than normal. Typically, I would have thought about eating healthier months ago but now (as we enter April) its suddently dawned on me that now is the time. Everybody I know is on some sort of diet or health kick at the moment, and indeed I am no exception.
Im indulging in a last ditch attempt to shed a few pounds for the Summer; eating lots of healthy snacks, not eating after 8pm and swapping fizzy drinks for water or juice should help me greatly. Im not expecting amazing results just a stead weightloss each week. That reminds me, the other day wheilst shopping at my favourite clothing store (New Look) I slightly absconded from my ever familiar 'fat section' and found myself in unfamilar teritory of the normal size 8-16s and I was shocked at what faced me. Since the beginning of time (Ok slight egsaduration.... well! since I can remember) I have always aspired to be a size 12-14....until the other day. As I looked at what appeared to be iddy-biddy dolly sized clothing I realised the garmant was actually a size TWELVE! I learn a huge lesosn that day, I DIDNT want to be a tiny person, nore did I want to be THAT size.... I am now happy to say I'd be happy to settle at a size 16. I dont want to be a skinny minnie super model I just want to be the best very of myself I can possibly be.
My biggest weightloss challenge will arise this evening when I begin my night shifts; with boredom comes my ability to become a little piggy who tucks into the custard creams and whatever tasty delights the staff bring in. My plan is to take lots of fruit to distract me and hopefully keep me on track.

Organizing this mini event has been rather exciting and not to mention liberating as I'm finally letting go of all those pieces of clothing 'Ill wear one day' or 'Save just in case'. I am so sorry that its late but the internet connection in this apartment has really been against me today (typical timing hey!)

You'll begin to notice a pattern here, half of the items of clothing I own are in fact from New Look; this next item is no exception. The size 24 Vintage style top has great detail yo both the top & bottom; frills to the collar and a special cut hem. I am only selling because the item is alot bigger than I thought....could perhaps be worn with a belt or just as it is. Saturday, 16 March 2013

Overindulgence in Wales....
HELP! Help, help!
Sothe latest isthat the weightloss patches I trialed were the biggest EVER! How they can still sell a product that clearly does NOT do what it claims surely shouldnt be allowed. Mind you, I suppose I should have been intelligent enough to realise the only way to lose weight is healthy eating and regular exercise; my problems are I hate exercise and dont particularly enjoy eating healthily either.
Someone really should knock some sence in to me. I certainly need a huge reality check, something to make me face facts....somethings got to change.
This weekends been amazing! Being without my phone, without Facebook and in the company of great people and even better scenery has done me the world of good. We enjoyed visiting a Welsh log cabin complete with hot tub, country walks and nature at its finest; unfortunatley with that came a rediculous amount of over indulgence in the chocolatey stakes. Staying in a cosy log cabin during the coldest week of the year is great for wearing those bulky knitted cardigans and feeling all warm and wintery but truth be told Iv never felt so fat and bulky myself.
After over indulging lots on our Welsh mini break we decided that today was our first day back on track.... until about an hour ago; how can a person do so well and then sabotage their own hard work by munching through the entire content of the treat cupboard in the final few hours of the day. Its so frustrating how I constantly let myself down yet deepdown I know that I can do it as I have before. I'm desperate for a light bulb moment.
I dont think I could stand the horror of weighing myself this month only to find iv gained weight again but I understand that only I can make the change.
I hope that the little changes like opting for a smaller sized plate, forgetting about fizzy drinks and not eating after 8pm will help make a huge difference.
