Never judge a book.....

It doesn't take a genius to work out that almost every woman you meet in the street will have some body insecurity or another; everybody is so different and yet ultimately ...the same. The truth is we can put our bodies through many difficult changes and still be unhappy with the end result; one Facebooker claims "Once you've been fat, you always feel fat. I still felt like I was fat when I got down to 8 and half stone about a year ago".

You may begin to judge someone in the street before even stopping to consider the journey they'd already been on and the challenges they'd overcome so far in their lives. For example; a new girl recently started at my place of work and being an oversized woman herself we soon got talking about weight-loss and crazy diets in general. She confessed she had previously had a Gastric band and lost a staggering 12stone! WOW! It was then I realised that I had been one of those people who judge prematurely. I found myself intrigued with her story and so inspired with how far she had come... but the truth was to any ordinary person in the street she would still be considered fat!

Similarly.... larger people are stereotypically considered lazy in the appearance and also in their professional lives. Many do not stop to consider the great thing larger woman have achieved; Dawn French is a prime example.  Saying that larger people are less likely to be promoted as some studies show is just ridiculous, why should a woman's love for cake and all things sweet dictate how much she earns and how seriously her colleagues take her?!

The moral behind this story is....do not look at a thin person & simply assume they're 100% happy with their body and certainly do not look at a 'fat' person and assume that they're doing nothing about their size. Never judge a book by its cover, invest the time, open the metaphorical book, take the opportunity to explore the stories that occupy the pages and be inspired.
