Its no secret that living a single girl's life has its equal share of ups and downs. Wild girley nights out dancing until 4am were paired with the harsh reality of sleeping alone in your flannel Pjs eating a bucket of chicken and feeling sorry for yourself that very same 'wild' night.
I will be the first to admit that I hated being single for my first 2years of University but just as I expected....the second I started actually embracing the single life, taking care of my appearance, loosing weight, growing into a better person....along came my Andrew.
Andrew was to change my life more than i ever expected anyone could. A soft, gentle giant who unfortunatly had the same weakness as I....food! Quite bizzarly we had both shed a few stone the months running up to our first meeting but the excitement of a new relationship meant evenings out, meals, general 'wining and dining' and as you can imagine we both gained a little weight.
That was back in early 2010 and life couldn't be more different now. The fact that we are totally aware of our own weaknesses in healthy eating have meant that we have ha to put clear structure into our life....creating a weekly menu, sticking to a strict food shopping list, forbidding ALL treats from the house and generally being each other's rock!
Loosing weight WITH a partner can drastically help you in your mission to 'fight the bulge'....finding new exciting recipes to cook with your other hand provides a fun nutritional way to spend time together. Also recogising that your are not alone in the tricky business of weight-loss will inspire you to continue with the small changes.
Everyone has bad days....ever since I was a little girl I used Chocolate as a comfort to rid myself of all the heartache, frustration or pain. I am not ashamed to admit that at one point in my life chocolate was my best friend, it never answered back, was always there for me but in the end we had to fall out because she was making my arse look HUGE! Even today, chocolate is my greatest downfall and if it wasn't for Andrew prizing it out of my hands I'd have no doubt gained a stone since the Summer!
There's nothing worse than being on a diet and seeing everyone around you stuffing their faces with all the treats you wished you could indulge in. Having a healthy partner will make it easier to create a healthier home and eventually creating an entire now lifestyle.
So! My advice to all you dieters out there is to find a 'diet buddy' whether it may be a partner, Mother, friend, colleague or even an online pal to offer you support and be there to listen to your crumblings about those night time cravings etc. Often, your find your own inner strength through someone else.
